Since Cuba opened its gates to worldwide tourism during the 1990’s the country has undergone a vast transformation. Cubans now have work, food, education and healthcare, much the same as we have in Britain, unfortunately they do not have freedom of speech and are unable to say exactly what they think. The transformation has made it possible for tourists to enjoy the rasping nightlife that has made Havana famous. Whilst in Havana and Trinidad it is possible to take a trip back in time, these too places have undergone a major restoration project, and have been preserved and put back to their former glory.

There are plenty of restaurants and nightlife, the prices in the restaurants are quite reasonable and most bills are exclusive of tax, in most restaurants a 10% service charge is added, if it is not added then it is up to you as the customer to tip. There are two kinds of restaurants in Havana the privately owned and the state run. The privately run restaurants often offer more in the way of a variety of food compared to the state run restaurants, although this is often reflected in the price, although it has to be said that the state restaurants are considered much improved.
Havana is known for its nightlife and is a thriving place to be, this place offers a choice of venues, the live music is definitely one of Havana’s strong points and is designed to keep the tourist jiving all night long. Usual the bar and club scene livens up at around 10 o clock pm and the bars and clubs tend to close when the last customer leaves. The dress code at night tends to be smart, there aren’t generally people wearing jeans, t-shirts or shorts, even though the weather is humid and sticky.
There are many internet blogs and sites about Cuba and Havana, and many people now tend to travel to the Caribbean for their main holiday. The nightlife in Havana is known about globally, but there is much more to Cuba than just the nightlife. Cuba is rich in culture, and offers a superb, and is often an enlightening experience to any visiting tourist. The internet is a great place to find out more information about Cuba, there is much in the way of information, not only about the place but the people too.
